Milke Danda Trek
One of the finest but little traveled treks in Nepal's far eastern region offers pristine natural beauty, awe-inspiring geography, rich wildlife, vibrant culture, and the warm hospitality of the locals.
Milke dada trek is renowned for its breathtaking vistas of Mount Everest, Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Kumbhakarna, Mount Makalu, etc. The trek's main draw is the environmental, cultural, and geographic diversity of the region. In the spring, the terrain is heavily vegetated with uncommon alpine plants and a stunning Rhododendron forest. During the summer, this location will be a haven for naturalists, botanists, and flower enthusiasts.
This tea house trip is organized by Makalu Arun Social trek (MAST) from Tumlingtar or Khandbari. Khandbari – Wana – Chainpur – Pokhari – Nundhaki hamlet – Gopha Pokhari all the way to Milke Danga. The hikers then return via Gupha Pokhari – Chauki and ultimately arrive at Basantapur.
Milke Danda Trek Highlights
Milke Danda provides awe-inspiring panoramic views of several of the world's tallest peaks, such as Mount Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain globally, and Mount Makalu. Additionally, the trek offers breathtaking views of other majestic peaks such as Mount Everest and Lhotse. Milke Danda stands out from the more popular trekking routes in Nepal due to its remote location and lack of crowds. This implies that you can experience the peacefulness and calmness of the Himalayas without the presence of large crowds. The Milke Danda ridge provides fantastic trekking opportunities, featuring uninterrupted ridge walks that offer breathtaking mountain views from different vantage points throughout the journey.
The Best time for Milke Danda Trek
The best seasons for hiking in Nepal are spring, which includes the months of March, April, and May, and fall, which includes September, October, and November. The spring season offers nearly ideal weather conditions for hiking. The sunset is minimal. Furthermore, the wind is relatively gentle. The levels of precipitation are also insufficient. The environmental conditions in Milke Danda make a spring walk there truly astonishing. The rhododendron forests are particularly vibrant in the spring, displaying a stunning red hue. Walking through these forests in the spring will be a truly magnificent experience.
Besides spring, autumn is also an excellent season to complete the Milke Danda Walk. The climate closely resembles that of spring. In October, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the stunning and captivating views of rhododendrons.
The breathtaking views of mountains such as Makalu, Everest, and Kanchenjunga are truly spectacular during the spring and autumn seasons.

My dad and myself did plan to trek the Annapurna Circuit from Jagat to Jomsom and booked the trip via Raj and Getaway Nepal Adventure. While organizing everything in advance went smooth from the very beginning, we were amazed by the organisation of the whole trip once we arrived in Nepal - starting with a pick-up service in Kathmandu airport, also wisely chosing our guide and our porter (Manisha and Dai) which both were a perfect match to accompany us on our trekking. Both were very thoughtful and we felt like a companionship from the very beginning, but also very professional when it came to all concerns regarding the hike, like proper acclimatisation, the daily hike and everything besides. Overall organisation has been extraordinary and there hasn't been anything where Raj was not able to support (even after the trip has finished).
This really has been a once-in-a-lifetime trip and we were so happy to have this with Manisha and Dai. If ever planning to do a trekking in Nepal again (and we would love to do soon) we definitely would book with Raj again and his company one more time.

Raj and his team are awesome. Especially after seeing how other travel companies in Nepal have functioned, not only are they on top of everything, but the guides and porters working with the company are treated really well. The morning we were meant to leave for Lukla, the plane kept getting delayed. By 9 am our guides had a chopper organised to take us, where we later chatted to people who only got on one at around 2 pm and ended up hiking in the dark. We also saw multiple porters carrying more than one duffle bag, however, this company limits it to one, for the wellbeing of the porters. I cannot recommend this company enough.
